Biography
Photographer Rita Catapano is a long-time Portland, Oregon, resident who makes her home in the Beaumont neighborhood. She has shown her work in a number of local venues. Rita has had an interest in photography since she was a child when she looked at pictures for hours and tried to imagine the stories within them.
Rita first studied photography while a student at Antioch College in Ohio where she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree. She went on to earn a Master's degree in Public Administration and has had a succesful career in health care spanning both the public and private sectors. It has been within the last ten years that she has taken up photography in earnest, studying with nationally recognized photographers. Recently, Rita has begun to learn watercolor painting. She says that stretching her artistic pursuits can only sharpen her photographic eye and add nuance to her work.
